Season's Greetings from the Mayors Desk
For me, this is a special time of the year. It is a time of settling down and settling in. A time of reflection. A time to take stock, let go and look forward to new beginnings. Certainly, a time of thanks. It's been almost a year since I've taken on the position of Mayor of this wonderful Borough and I have a lot to be thankful for.
Many thanks to Paul and Karen Heyne. Their loving green thumbs keep turning up around town. Their latest project is the watergront gazebo. Go check it out. Thanks Paul and Karen.
Thank you Todd Twichell and Patrick Moses, who are responsible for getting this newsletter to you. They put so much love into everything they do. Todd also has taken on the position of Secretary of the Shade Tree Commission. Thank you so much for all you both do.
Thank you Kathryn Myers-Gilbert for taking on the challenging work of Chairperson of the Shade Tree Commission. Grant work was completed and some residents were the recipients of promised trees. More to come next year.
Captain Saymon's vision of a 9/11 Memorial and Monument became a reality. All work (time, material, labor) was donated - no taxpayer money was spent. Thank you Steve.
With regret, we are losing some of our valuable employees and volunteers. After 23 years, our Clerk and CFO, Barbara Lewis, has decided to devote more time to fun, family and friends. We wish you all the best in your retirement. You will be missed by us all.
Pam Jenkinson, who has served as Secretary to our Board of Health, will be stepping down after 14 years. Your time and dedication to the Board has been greatly appreciated.
Thank you to your wonderfully committed Council Members. It's been a great year of new beginnings. Thank you for your support of my vision. The various projects being worked on will help keep Brooklawn the safe, family neighborhood we all know it to be.
Last but certainly not least.....to all the Borough employees and organizations for all your hard work and dedication throughout the year. Thank you all !
To the residents of Brooklawn.....My sincere wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy 2012.
Mayor Theresa Branella
