Did you know......
The frist school was over the top of the stores where the tattoo parlor is today (on New Broadway).
In 1926, the Brooklawn School was built and later names the Alice Costello School, after the eighth grade teacher and principal.
The two circles are known at the "H Circles"; the only one in New Jersey. It was built in 1928 and is on the Historic records.
Lipkins store was first located in the row of stores across the street from where it is now. It had a soda fountain and a well stocked drug store, and was owned by Herman Lipkin who resided on Noreg Place.
Where Brain Freeze is located, it used to be an Exxon gas station, and across the street where CJ's Auto Body is located, it used to be a Sunoco gas station.

Route 130 was a 2 lane road..?
Residents could park in front of their homes..?
Ice cream cones were 5 cents and hamburgers were 15 cents at Goldy's on Route 130 (now Wayne's Log Cabin parking lot)..?
When you knew everyone in town by name..?
The small firehouse on Browning Lane was the only one and housed the Borough's single fire truck..?
The 8th grade teacher was also the principal..?
The school had no kindergarten and only used 1 floor for classrooms..?
In order to get from one side of town to the other there were steps high over the railroad at New Jersey Road and a tunnel at Town Center..?
The Acme (American Store) in the end store on Browning Road and the A & P on Browning Road near the railroad..?
